Chaos began around 4:25 p.m. Thursday, July 21, when the swimmers were asked to leave the McVeigh Recreation Center due to their disruptive behavior, but they refused and became hostile towards the staff, Philadelphia police said.

The girls then taunted and threatened the workers, prompting them to close the pool and evacuate the remaining swimmers, police said.

That's when the trio followed the employees into the recreation center building, where at least two of the girls "began swinging their arms at staff members as the staff attempted to block the girls from entering," investigators said.

Once a worker was able to get the girls outside of the center, they went on to vandalize three parked vehicles, police said. Meanwhile, "two unknown males gained access to the building and took a bag belonging to one of the employees, which was recovered," authorities said.

The suspects fled the area and no arrests have been made.

The incident left five people, ranging in age from 17 to 63, with minor injuries, police said.

The pool will be closed for the remainder of the season, 6abc reports.
